Is it nearly summer?

Usually about this time of year I’m struggling with a mini heatwave and the house being far too warm but not this year, the constant rain and dull days have stopped any sort of temperature and it’s actually feeling chilly in my stitching area.  The only upside with the weather as it is has been the lack of really hot weather putting a dampner on my stitching.  I think I’m getting a lot more done than I usually would at this time of year.

So some good news, page 20 of Whispers is done.  More detail on this page, we get to see the doll that she is holding.  It’s such a change after all the blocks of colour, suddenly you’re filling in an area of 5 stitches using 5 different colours but that’s how you get the detail.  I think the most annoying part is when you’re stitching an area in one colour and finish off the thread just to spot one more stitch of the same colour.  And it’s always just one more stitch.

I’ve included a close up of the doll – I think it’s a doll – lots of detail in something so small.  She’s stitched using the same shades of blue and grey in the wing.  The next page goes back to the background and is only a partial page, once that is done row three of the picture will be complete.

Everything is ready to go back to Couch Dragon for a page and I was looking forward to getting back to it.  But then I look at the little tiny page left to complete and part of me wants to get it stitched.  I’ll see how I feel when it comes to sitting down and doing some stitching tonight.

This week Heaven and Earth Designs released a series of Randal Spangler Storykeeps featuring those little draglings.  I’ve decided that I want to stitch all of them individually and have them framed and put them around my other dragling pictures (being ambitious here).  Also I was lucky enough to receive two of the charts from fellow stitchers as random acts of kindness.  Who knows how long I’ll be able to resist making a start especially as I know that I have some bits of magic guide fabric just the right size.

Wow Nicola Whispers is looking amazing. I can understand you wanting to stitch that last little page to finish the row. I couldn’t resist it myself. Congrats on your progress she’s coming along really well. Love those Sk’s by Spangler. I was thinking ot stitching a few too, but not sure where I would fit it in the 30 Wip rotation I have going at the moment. I’ll enjoy them through you.
    Happy stitching xoxo

Great work on the little doll, the detail is just breathtaking! =)
I know what you mean with the cingle stitches and always missing one, that sometimes drive me crazy, especially when I have a symbol “that you just can’t overlook” and I check thrice if I got all stitches in that shade that are near by and then, when I have just cut the thread, another one of those symbols is popping out of nowhere… 😉

Nicola – it looks amazing! I’m sure you’ll be happy with whatever you decide to do next!

I too know what it’s like missing that 1 stitch! Just when you looked over that square for the 100th time, you spot it! grrrr – does make me feel better though that it’s not just me! x
