Mystery Knitting Finished

On June 1st I started knitting along on a mystery knitting project by Through The Loops.  Each Saturday a new clue was sent out and you’d spend the week knitting it.  In my case I spent the weekend knitting it because I just couldn’t put it down.  That’s probably why my stitching has slowed down a little recently (aside from confetti slowness).

The knitting was finished last week but I waited until yesterday to wash and block it because I needed an assistant on hand to help with the pinning out of the edging.  When I knitted jumpers I never bothered blocking so it’s a new skill for me but it’s something that really needs to be done with lace pieces.

Before blocking the stitches are pretty bunched up and you can’t see all of the detail of the lace pattern

After blocking, apart from opening up those little lace holes you also end up with a nice large shawl.

And here’s a close up of one of the lace sections.

I’m still plugging away at the page of blue for Computer Catastrophes but I’m also getting ready for a new small start which meant a lot of time yesterday was spent replenishing bobbins.  I’m hoping to have the first page of blue done by the end of the week.
